Jamie Collins, Serendipity Farms, Monterey County

Serendipity Farms is a woman-owned business in Monterey County that grows diverse certified organic fruits and vegetables for farmers’ markets and direct-to-restaurant sales. In 2017, farmer Jamie Collins received a FarmLink mortgage loan for the farm and residence she had rented for almost a decade. She’s been operating her farm for over 15 years and was able to act swiftly on the opportunity to purchase the property. Like many small farmers in the region, Jamie operates her diverse farm on a handful of acreages. She’s also working with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service on various conservation projects, including water catchment at the farm she purchased. Jamie recently expanded into value-added products such as salad bowls and other prepared foods from her organic produce.
